UniSoft has considerable experience in designing certification programs for a variety of software standards. Typical categories which can be addressed as certified products:

  1. The implementation of the standard, for example an MHP implementation running on a set top box, or a UNIX implementation on a server.
  2. The applications, namely the software which runs under the above implementation.

A set of policies and procedures needs to be defined for both of these categories which will allow applicants for the brand to follow a consistent program in order to obtain the applicable level of certification. Each of the programs will provide the opportunity to choose either to self-certify their products or for the product to receive a higher level of certification through independent testing.

Both programs will be based on a set of branding program policies that are designed to be as common as possible across the different categories. The document set should include the following:

  1. Master Test Agreement - defining the framework for the branding program and the rights associated with materials provided under the program.
  2. Trademark Licence Agreement - defining the legal requirements associated with the brand and its use.
  3. Compliance Testing Policies and Procedures - defining the testing processes that are to be applied to a candidate product, the requirements for products to be retested after modification, any additional activities that need to be followed beyond the defined testing processes, the manner in which deviations are to be handled, result submission and adjudication, support availability, etc.
  4. Dispute Management Procedures - defining the processes under which any disputes associated with the test results or branded product deficiencies are managed and escalated to final resolution.

UniSoft can assist the customer's chosen legal counsel in the preparation of the Master Test Agreement and Trademark Licence Agreement. These documents will be maintained by the legal counsel.

UniSoft will be responsible for the development of draft versions of the Compliance Testing Policies and Procedures and Dispute Management Procedures for review by the certification program management. After review UniSoft will continue to modify and maintain these documents under the direction of the certification program management team.
